Before the over saturation of zombie media, writer director Edgar Wright and writer Simon Pegg brought their kinetic style to cinemas with 2004’s Shaun of the Dead. The slice of fried comedy gold caught on with young audiences in the United States and unofficially launched the “Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy.” The pair returned with Nick Frost for the 2007 action schlock homage Hot Fuzz and 2013’s 70’s style paranoid sci-fi thriller The World’s End. Is there anything more underneath the geek references, visual comedy, and intricate jokes? Are these movies accessible to non nerd audiences? Are they comedy classics or cult films for college students? By the power of Grey Skull, Pat & Jason will attempt to answer these questions and more by ranking the series and reviewing Hot Fuzz.
